Cleaning Out My Closet – May 2012

I know, I know. I am late, and I apologize. RL has completely kicked ALL of my butt off, so only now have I been able to take a breath and take a pic (and between you and me, I really wasn’t ABLE to. I got much grading to do and stopped working on that to do this!).

This month, the theme for my pics is THE WORD. If you know me in-world, or have taken the time just to check out my profile, then you know I’m — among other things — an author in real life. I’m also an editor and an English instructor at the university level, so words are, all day, every day, a part of my life. What I’m Working On — AWAY Film Project

I always have my hands in several cookie jars at once, but one project I’m currently working on was kind of birthed through two things: my Cleaning Out My Closet photos for this month and the comment left by my lovely girlfriend.

I love dressing in doll and puppet, and it kind of surprised me that I would go somewhat dark with the pictures I took. My girlfriend Earth talked about the story that seemed to developed of the doll through the pictures, and she was interested in that story. Truth was, I was, too.

The doll in those photos stuck with me, and because of that, AWAY is being birthed.

Away is my next short film, and it’s about Gabriella, a woman who thinks she has found happily ever after, only to find herself swept away to a place where she becomes The Doll for her mate. Although it will be a short piece (thinking less than 10 minutes), I feel like this doll wants to talk more, so who knows where she will go.

The goal is to release the film next month. I’ve already shot some footage and am working on fleshing out dialogue and remaining shots so that I can shoot them and go into editing.

Cleaning Out My Closet – April 2012

One of my fave looks to don is dolly-puppet wear. Put me in a dolly dress complete with bun hair, one of my puppet or doll AOs, and my puppet strings, and I am a happy girl. Last summer, I even found myself donning one of my fave dresses and shot footage of me just moving in my AO. There’s something sweet about the dolly look.

There’s also something dark about that same look. This month’s Cleaning Out My Closet had me flipping through the items in my dolly wardrobe and picking two ‘fits for this shoot. The shoot, however, took a more darker turn than the light and breezy air in the footage from last August. I dig them — a lot. Hope you do, too!
