I’ve been nominated for something…

Never expected THAT to happen!

In real life, I’ve been very sick. As a result, I’ve been doing more taking meds and sleeping than being on SL.

I was very surprised to finally get to log on today and learn that I’ve been nominated for a DANCE QUEENS Dance Awards (The Cutie) for Best Script (for Shaken Into Peace) and SL Show of the Year (for Shaken Into Peace).

Was TOO stoked to learn this. Shaken into Peace was a definite labor of love, and it was created as much to fuel my heart with God as it was to help fuel others’ hearts with God. Glad I pushed myself away from my fear and finished this project!

The awards ceremony is at 6 am SLT, January 27, 2013, at LunaMar. I always chuckle when nominees say it was awesome just to be nominated, but I have to say it’s true. Just to be nominated, something I never considered happening, is a WOWING moment for me. It sparks me to want to continue doing good work.

The Things You Carried ~ Spoken Word Featured in Latest UP Production

Occasionally, I write poetry. Most of it is faith-based. When I was developing the production that would become Unity Productions’ latest performance, SHAKEN INTO PEACE, I was able to bring this poem from obscurity and literally speak it into existence with this audio track. It’s a piece that when I listen to it, I can hear and feel myself feeling the words There is definitely some meta-something going on for me when I listen to it. Please take a listen–let me know what you think.

Also, there are still five more opportunities to see SHAKEN INTO PEACE in Second Life:

Unity Productions’ THE PRISONER Goes Live Today

Today, faith-based group Unity Productions kicks off performances of its latest production, The Prisoner! [Oh, BTW, I’m Jesus in white in this picture! I play him and a dancer in the production.]

The Prisoner is a tragic musical with an operatic feel that tells the story of John the Baptist. The pulsing songs sung in Hebrew offer a unique layer to the diversity of our culture, heritage, and inheritance in Christ.

Shows will run every weekend during the month of June with the following days and times: Friday 6 p.m. SLT, Saturday 2 p.m. SLT, and Sunday 4 p.m. SLT. Here is YOUR ticket to Unity Productions’ stage for the performances!

A Dance Tribute to Whitney Houston

I have to say I’ve been very sad since Whitney Houston passed. Like Michael Jackson, she was a voice that I grew up with and always stayed close to. From her gospel roots to her more popular work, to hear her voice was to luxuriate in sounds that most people will never be able to replicate. Over the last week, I’ve been listening to a lot of her music, mostly the gospel music. Her roots, steep in her faith, is I think one reason my sadness for her has been so deep. I know she loved the Lord, and I know He loved/s her right back, and often, I prayed her life would turn around. I can’t really say it didn’t turn around. No, she’s not here and we’ll never be able to see if the upcoming movie Sparkle and future music would have given her the ultimate comeback, but she is with her Father, her Lord, and with him, there is no pain, hurt, or sorrow. She can rest in him, always.

One of my favorite songs that Whitney sings is “Joy to the World”. There is no reason to wait until Christmas to listen to it. I love the fast and slow movements that flow throughout the piece, and when I hear Whitney’s voice with that choir, I hear nothing but sweet joy. It makes me weep, shout, and laugh all at once. I may, ultimately, do a dance for a few more songs of hers that touch me, but I definitely wanted to do this one. Hope you enjoy.
